What you need to know about your hair journey

A hair journey is definitely a journey. Sometimes we can even over do it while trying to protect and grow our hair. What do I mean about that? We research and find lots of things that promote hair growth, from products to the actual maintenance of your hair. As I've stated in previous videos and blogs, its imperative you do an evaluation of the state of your hair (currently) then determine from your research what products and style will accommodate you.

Products: Finding the right product can be a challenge all by itself. Most times we watch YouTube videos, Google and view posts from other bloggers but forget what works for them may not work for you. Here are a few things you want to determine when purchasing products.

1. Know your hair type
2. Once you've evaluated your hair/scalp condition, be sure you purchase products that are specifically tailored to the condition of your hair. If you suffer from lack of moisture, protein, dandruff, itchy scalp or any other conditions, find products that aid that problem.
3. Invest in sulfate free shampoos. Sometimes it's ok to use a clarifying shampoo to get rid of build up if you have any. Honestly you should have this problem if you are maintaining a consistent hair care regimen that includes you washing your hair weekly.
4. Use oils that are light and natural.
5. DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT use multiple products. There is no need. If you use one good moisturizer and light oil, you don't need anything else. This would eliminate build up and scalp irritation.

Maintenance: While you are preserving your style for the week, follow these simple steps below.

1. Wrap hair nightly with satin scarf or bonnet cap.
2. Oil your ends at least 2x a week - Remember your ends are the oldest part of your hair and are very fragile.
3. Very little manipulation.
4. Try protective styling. Twist outs, braids outs, buns etc. However, when you are wearing a braid out do not re twist or braid your hair nightly. I just researched this is bad for your hair. It causes a lot of tension of your hair that are already styled. Braids and twist outs should actually be loose flowing anyway.
5. If you looking for a long last hair style that will be protective and simple; get a roller set/wrap. It's the best! I will forever wear my rollersets which has no manipulation at all. You unwrap and comb your hair into whatever style you're rocking for the day. Check out my videos on rollersets. www.youtube.com/user/7lovefaith‎

Following these 10 steps would help you on maintain a great healthy head of hair. I promise :-)
